New Photograph: San Saba Bridge

Jimmy LaFave’s photographs spanned as many years as roads he traveled. Signs, facades, nature, bridges, railroad tracks, murals….all a culmination of what caught his eye at a particular moment in time on a particular stretch of road for one particular reason or another. In addition to the Searching for Peace Town Collection exhibited in 2018, we are excited to bring you San Saba Bridge as our offering for January. Officially known as Regency Bridge and locally as the “Swinging Bridge,” it was built in 1939 with 90% of its labor constructed by hand and spans the Colorado River between Mills and San Saba counties. In 2005, the Regency Bridge became the last suspension bridge in Texas open to automobile traffic. Although Jimmy came upon this bridge many times, he photographed it here in 2012.
